This guide explains how to configure a Windows 10 device for use as an OnSign player. While some steps are optional, they are recommended if the device will function as a dedicated digital signage player.
This guide includes five steps:
- Create a dedicated Windows account (optional)
- Configure automatic logon
- Disable notifications
- Disable automatic sleep and power-saving modes
- Download and install the OnSign Player
Create a dedicated Windows account
- Open Settings, select Family & other users and create a local, dedicated user for your player by clicking + Add someone else to this PC, then I don't have this person's sign-in information and Add a user without a Microsoft account.
- Set up the new user information and save user and password information.

Configure automatic logon
- Configure Windows for automatic logon by following the steps below:
- Open regedit.exe and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon - In the menu, select Edit > New > String Value.
- Name the new value AutoAdminLogon and press Enter.
- Double-click AutoAdminLogon, set its value to 1, and click OK.
- Locate DefaultUserName and double-click it to enter the username.
Then double-click DefaultPassword and enter the corresponding password.

Disable notifications
- Disable notifications by opening Settings, selecting System, and then choosing Notifications & actions. Turn off the main notification toggle and clear all related checkboxes.

Disable automatic sleep and power-saving modes
- Next, open Power & sleep and set both Screen and Sleep to “Never”.

Download and install the OnSign player
- Download and Install the OnSign player. To ensure it launches automatically at startup, enable the option Automatically start app when device is booting up during the player setup.
