Detaching a Hardware Device

Detaching a device is a simple procedure for disconnecting a hardware device associated with a Player profile.

After detaching, the Player name remains listed with its content and settings so that a new device can be paired with it later.

If you only need to replace a hardware device, use the Change Device option instead — it is faster and keeps your existing configuration.

Note: A detached Player profile still consumes a player license, unless you check the “remove used license from this Player” option at the detach confirmation.

Removing the license from the Player does not automatically reduce your subscription. This is a separate action. For reference see this tutorial.

Steps for detaching a hardware device:

  1. Go to the Player you want to detach.
  2. Choose this Player's Settings from the menu.
  3. In the header, you will find the yellow Change Device button. Next to it, is an arrow which opens up to the Detach Hardware option. Click on it.detach hardware
  4. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Click the orange Detach Hardware button to confirm.
Here you can also check the box to Remove the used Player license from the Player.

  5. The Player information will no longer show a device. In the Players overview, the profile will be highlighted in yellow if the Player is detached or in red if the license is also removed. The Player will display a pairing code, just like during initial setup.
